When you grew up in an extended family with numerous physicians, nurses, and nutrition and science professors, you can bet that health and nutrition were frequently discussed at family gatherings and over the dinner table.
That fascination has evolved into a concern for the health, nutrition, and lifespan of dogs; I've always had at least one dog around since I can remember. In fact, my earliest recollection is of picking the dog I wanted to take home from the rescue centre, not of a family member. She enjoyed a happy life and died at the ripe old age of 15 after 12 years. So I was really eager to hear what Andrew Lewis had to say regarding the consequences of most commercial dog meals, especially because I'd done a lot of study into how to make dogs as healthy as possible.

The first thing I discovered that surprised me was that dogs as young as 5 years old are sometimes viewed as practically ancient! Why? The commercial dog food industry is even more horrible than I had anticipated. Andrew Lewis takes a deep dive into what's in your dog's food, and more crucially, how to figure out what you're giving your dog from the back of the bag's "ingredients" list and the dog food blurb on the package.
Andrew demonstrates how, rather of making your dog healthier and living longer, you are most likely shortening their life expectancy with each mealtime. The terrible and irritating fact is that every day, with every meal, you are slowly murdering your dog. The good news is that he informs you exactly what your dog needs to consume in order to live a long and healthy life and to offset the garbage you've been feeding them unknowingly.
I found myself making regular notes, furiously jotting down point after point as I realised how easy I could ensure that my pets' life expectancy might be doubled. I learned how to make healthy choices and why they worked.

When you consider that only a few months ago, a dog food recall resulted in the removal of over 100 brands of dog food from shop shelves, you can see why this is "must have" information. It's no wonder that dogs are deemed "beyond it" at the age of ten; without realising it, we're depriving them of the food they require and poisoning them every time we go for the bowl.
